How Do PDO Threads Work?

Polydioxanone (PDO) is a synthetic fibre that is gradually and completely absorbed by the tissue. It has been widely used in the manufacture of skin and subcutaneous sutures. During the procedure, PDO threads are inserted into selected areas beneath the skin using a very fine needle. Once the thread has been positioned, the needle is removed. The treatment creates a supportive framework around which the body initiates neocollagenesis, stimulating the production of new collagen fibres, as well as increased fibroblast activity, elastin synthesis and the production of endogenous hyaluronic acid.
