How do PDO Threads Work?

Polydioxanone (PDO) is a synthetic fiber that fully dissolves in the tissue over time. It is commonly used in the production of subcutaneous and skin sutures. The treatment involves inserting PDO threads into the skin (targeted areas) using a very thin needle. After insertion, the needle is removed, and a dressing is applied. This treatment creates a framework around which the body starts the process of neocollagenesis (production of new collagen fibers), stimulates fibroblasts for increased elastin synthesis, and enhances the synthesis of endogenous hyaluronic acid.
